Apple Picking

I may have mentioned before, but the transitional seasons are my favorite. I look forward to spring after long and drab winters, and fall for the crisper weather and fun activities. One of them is apple picking, a tradition my immediate and extended family has indulged in for many years. We always visit Out House Orchards, not just for their apple trees, but for their market - they sell the most delicious apple cider donuts, hot from the oven as well as a rustic little shop that sells both food and fall interior decor. With September starting to wind down and a full bushel of apples waiting to be transformed into apple everything, I'm planning on spending a lot of my down time in the kitchen.
